What up and welcome to Ramascreen YouTube channel and here’s my review of Netflix’s new mini series, Burning Body. Let’s rock this. Okay, this mini series comes all the way from Spain and it’s based on a true crime story that happened a few years ago.

And here’s what makes it extra interesting. On the same exact day that Netflix will premiere Burning Body, they will also release the documentary Rosa Perral’s Tapes, which is about the same exact case.

So think of these two titles as companion pieces, if you will. So if you want to see archival footage and listen to Rosa’s very own testimonies and observe the timeline of events chronologically leading up to the murder, then you can watch Rosa Perral’s Tapes documentary.

But if you just want to see the dramatization of those events, well then that’s where Burning Body comes in. With all its non -linear depiction, full of melodrama, suspense, betrayal, scheming, corruption, and a love triangle gone deadly.

I’m sure the screenwriters and the directors take a lot of creative license here for entertainment purposes. But it works. Overall, Burning Body is devilishly captivating. It’s May 2017. The chart remains of police officer Pedro are found inside a burnt -out car at Barcelona’s reservoir.

The discovery quickly arouses the public’s interest, especially when the investigation begins to reveal the truth. a network of toxic relationship, deceit, violence, and sexual scandals involving Pedro and two fellow police officers.

His partner Rosa and her ex -boyfriend Albert, starring Ursula Corbero, Jose Manuel Poga, and Kim Gutierrez. Look, because it’s based on a true story, we know what happened. You can google it, you can look it up on Wikipedia, especially if you live in Spain, you probably already know this case by heart.

But anyway, because the what is already answered, the questions left are the how and the why. And that’s what this show aims to play out for you. How Rosa tries to redirect the investigation away from her, how she manipulates and uses her loved ones to her benefit, and why she is so adamant about committing that murder, and more importantly, how the police ultimately bring her down.

The devil is in those details. That is probably one of the things that I enjoy about Burning Body, in that the writers did not make the police seem incompetent. Rosa may try and try she does, but she’s never always one step ahead of them.

This is the story of somebody who thinks she can get away with the perfect crime, but ultimately crashes and burns, pun intended. There are a total of eight episodes. Most of the episodes are about the investigation.

It’s like a slow burn cat and mouse game. And then the last couple of episodes are the courtroom drama. And two outsiders like me, those are the most interesting parts because they give you a picture or a sense or an idea of what the trials or what the justice system looks like in Spain and how they may be similar or different from the way it is done here in America.

The lead characters are Rosa, Pedro and Albert, and Rosa is at the center of it all, played by actress Ursula Corbero, who pretty much carries the entire show. And Ursula is a revelation. She is stunning and cunning as a black widow who’s gradually coming into her own.

Ursula’s performance as Rosa Peral is stone cold devious. I’m still on the fence on whether or not this show actually needed eight episodes. They could have trimmed it down a bit, but at the same time, some of the backstories do inform us of the many, many instances in which Pedro and.
